Emergency Department

• The emergency department is a 35-bed unit, all private rooms with two nurse’s stations. All rooms have cardiac monitoring capability.
• Care is provided to patients of all ages suffering from medical, traumatic and behavioral emergency conditions.
• State-designated Level II trauma center
• State-designated Level II stroke center
• The leadership of the unit consists of a director and four associate directors.
• Unit staffing is as follows:
  • The department is staffed by registered nurses, emergency services associates, transporters and unit secretaries.
  • Staffing patterns vary throughout the day based on volume and rate of patient arrivals. Mechanisms are in place to augment established levels when patient volume/acuity dictates.

​​​​​​​Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

• The ICU is a 21-bed unit, with three separate areas:
  • ICU A – Eight beds, individual rooms with glass doors
  • ICU B – Six beds, individual rooms with glass doors
  • ICU C – Seven beds, one individual room and the rest is an open-bay unit divided by curtains
• The unit primarily cares for the adult patient population, ages 16 and above, and stabilizes and transfers pediatric patients. If a pediatric patient cannot be transported emergently, a pediatric nurse may help the ICU nurse with necessary assessment and documentation. A pediatric physician support will be obtained for care and management of the patient while in the ICU.
• The leadership of the unit consists of a director and associate directors responsible for ICU beds. One registered nurse will be assigned each shift to act as resource nurse. The resource nurse will respond to Medical Emergency Team and code blues throughout the hospital and to medical alerts in the Emergency Department when available. The resource nurse will also assist employees when needed.

Operating Room

The surgery department encompasses 14 operating rooms and support areas to provide intra-operative care to inpatients and outpatients of all ages and surgical specialties. Elective, add-on and emergent care is included, but not limited to, the following services:

Surgery staff receives extensive orientation and training. Continuing education and competency verification is provided under the direction of the operating room education team and clinical education specialists.

Medical/Surgical

2 East NeuroMusculoSkeletal Unit

• 2 East is a 30-bed unit, all private rooms with one central nurse’s station. The unit has telemetry capability.
• The unit primarily cares for the adult orthopedic, neurology and neurosurgery patient population ages 18 and above.
• Unit staffing is as follows:

• • Beds are staffed with a mixture of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care assistants.
  • Admissions, discharges and transfers are considered in daily staffing.

3 East Cardiovascular Thoracic Unit (CVTU)

• 3 East is a 48-bed unit, divided into two sides (A and B), each with 24 beds. All rooms are private with two central nurse’s stations.
• The unit primarily cares for the adult patient population, ages 18 and above.
• The leadership of the unit consists of a director and associate directors.
• Admissions, discharges and transfers are considered in daily staffing.

4 East Surgical and Surgical Step-Down

• 4 East is a 48-bed unit, all private rooms with no central nurse’s station. Sixteen beds are surgical step-down, and 32 beds are surgical.
• The unit primarily cares for the adult surgical patient population ages 18 and above.
• The leadership of the unit consists of a director and associate directors.
• Unit staffing is as follows:

• • Surgical beds are staffed with a mixture of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care assistants.
  • Step-down beds are staffed with registered nurses and patient care assistants.
  • Admissions, discharges and transfers are considered in daily staffing.

Float Pool

The Float Pool staff, under the supervision of the director, is made up of registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and patient care assistants and patient care sitters who are cross-trained to provide relief coverage for staff on patient-care units.

2 South Oncology

• 2 South is a 16-bed unit, all private rooms with one central nurse’s station. The unit is telemetry capable.
• The unit primarily cares for the adult oncology/hematology patient population, ages 18 and above.
• The leadership of the unit consists of a director.
• Unit staffing is as follows:

• • Oncology beds are staffed with a mixture of registered nurses and patient care assistants.
  • Admissions, discharges and transfers are considered in daily staffing.

Mosaic Life Care also offers a number of nursing opportunities at a variety of clinics, including family care, urgent care and a wide-range of specialty care options.

Home Health Care

Home Health Care provides intermittent skilled care in the home for patients ages 18 and above. Patients are treated in their home setting, not at the home-health agency office locations.
